GET TO KNOW US
The Makaha Cultural Learning Center, a native 501(c)3, was started in Makaha Valley almost a decade ago. Today, our primary mission is to create opportunities for Native Hawaiians and the people of the Waianae Coast through leadership, trades-training and outreach programs. Our vision is for more than a classroom and innovation space. We are working toward a world-class community Learning Center that is home to relevant and applicable courses designed to propel students on a path of success. We believe that love for self and community will be the natural manifestation that ensues. Our vision is for a learning center that serves as a model for change throughout Hawaii and the world. At the Makaha Learning Center, we have three core passions: Native Hawaiians, The Waianae Coast Community, and perpetuating the Trades.
SOLVING FOR TWO
#1 CULTURE OF POVERTY

The highly visible evidence of poverty is not the root problem, but the heartbreaking symptom of a culture of poverty. If we are to effect change, we need to transform the mind AND provide paths to success.
#2 SHORTAGE OF SKILLED WORKERS

The biggest challenge facing employers is a lack of skilled employees. Local businesses have been forced to seek skilled labor in the mainland to meet business needs. Local talent has not been cultivated for application in the trades. Rudimentary skillset forces our local labor force into the lowest pool of employment.
IF NOT US, THEN WHO
